Position Overview

Bal en feu is a signature fundraising evening supporting Arthritis Society Canada, bringing together guests, partners, and community members for an elegant, high-energy night of engagement and impact.

We are seeking approximately 20 bilingual (Fluent in the English & French language) volunteers (18–24 total) to support event operations and ensure a seamless guest experience from arrival to departure.

This opportunity is ideal for friendly, organized individuals who enjoy working in dynamic event environments and contributing to a meaningful cause.

Time Commitment

This is a one-day, in-person evening volunteer opportunity:

  • Event Date: Thursday, November 19, 2026

  • Start Time: 6:00 PM HNE

Volunteers should be available for a 6–8 hour shift depending on role assignments.

The deadline for volunteer applications is October 30, 2026.

This is an indoor event hosted in an accessible venue in Montréal. Volunteers will be expected to move throughout the event space to support different stations and guest needs.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Volunteers will be assigned to one of the following roles based on event needs:

  • Installation & Dismantling: Support event set-up and teardown, including arranging furniture, décor, and materials.

  • Coat Check: Manage guest coats and personal items in a professional and organized manner.

  • Guest Registration: Welcome attendees, check guests in, and provide event information as needed.

  • Guest Guides: Assist guests with navigation throughout the venue and provide general support and directions.

  • Reception Support: Help guests find their assigned tables and ensure smooth seating flow.

  • Silent Auction Support: Assist with auction operations, including monitoring items and supporting bidding activities.

  • General Event Support: Provide flexible on-site assistance as needed across all event areas.

Specific assignments will be confirmed closer to the event date.

Meals & Hospitality

Meal and refreshment details will be shared with selected volunteers prior to the event.

Transportation

Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the venue.

  • Organized and attentive to detail

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced event environment

  • Able to communicate effectively in both English and French (bilingual required)

Requirements

Volunteers may be required to complete standard onboarding requirements, which may include:

  • Minimum age requirement (18+)

  • Resume 

Additional experience in hospitality, customer service, or event coordination is considered an asset.

Social Media & Outreach

A bilingual social media story post will be used to recruit volunteers approximately two months prior to the event, including application details and deadline reminders.

Availability & Working Environment

This is an in-person evening event. Volunteers should be prepared to work in a fast-paced indoor environment and be available for the full duration of their assigned shift.
