Volunteer Receptionist
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Director, Human Resources Operations, the Receptionist acts as the first point of contact for all visitors to the Toronto office of Arthritis Society Canada. Main responsibilities include ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of reception, excellence in customer service, handling and triaging incoming calls and emails, and general office administration.
Time Commitment
This is a long-term volunteer opportunity requiring a consistent commitment of at least one day per week, with a preference for two days, for a minimum of six months.
Location: Work out of our Toronto office located at 220 Bay St. #300
Key Areas of Responsibility
Greets all visitors to the Toronto office in a professional and warm manner, informing the relevant staff members of their arrival
Handles all incoming calls to the main reception line in a timely, courteous and professional manner
Reviews, triages and responds to Toronto general voicemails and info@arthritis.ca inbox
Reviews and triages Toronto fax inbox, including forwarding confidential doctor’s referrals and patient details to AREP
Ensures there is always a presence at the reception desk throughout the day during business hours
Handles light administrative and housekeeping duties
Desired Skills, Attributes & Qualifications
Experienced customer care professional, with the ability to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day running and operation of reception
Proven track record of professionalism when dealing with internal and external clients
Excellent oral and written communication skills - French language skills an asset
High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential matters
Excellent ability to prioritize, organize, and multi-task
Technologically savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office

Availability and Working Environment
This is an in-person volunteer opportunity at our Toronto office. Volunteers must be available during the agreed upon dates and have reliable transportation to and from the site.
