East Coast Roast  


Position Overview 


The East Coast Roast is Arthritis Society Canada’s signature fundraising event, bringing communities together to support those living with arthritis. We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to play a vital role in creating an exceptional experience for our guests. Volunteers in this role will assist with event logistics, support attendees, and ensure the event runs smoothly and professionally. 


Time Commitment


  • Event Date & Time: Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 5:00pm-10:00pm ATL (volunteers may be asked to arrive earlier, typically a few hours in advance, to assist with setup.) 

  • Location: Halifax Convention Centre, 5th floor ballroom, 1650 Argyle Street, Halifax, NS 

  • Shifts are available for setup, event execution, and teardown. 

  • Additional orientation and training will be provided prior to the event. 


Key Areas of Responsibility


Floaters & Greeters 

  • Guide guests to the 5th floor and assist with event navigation. 

  • Address guest inquiries (e.g., washrooms, coat check) and support stage activities as needed. 


Raffle Ticket Sellers 

  • Sell raffle tickets during the cocktail reception (5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.) and main event. 

  • Engage guests, promote prizes, and manage ticket sales using smartphones or tablets (credit card only).


Welcome Table 

  • Check guests in and assist with seating using the digital seating chart. 

  • Transition to support Sales Processing once the main event starts. 


Sales Processing 

  • Support for the Silent Auction and "Send a Kid to Camp" Pledges 

  • Update and share fundraising totals with the AV team for event announcements. 


Table Hosts 

  • Introduce yourself to assigned tables and engage with guests. 

  • Collect pledge sheets and encourage raffle ticket purchases. 


Slide Updater 

  • Collaborate with AV to update slides with donor names and fundraising totals throughout the event.

  • Enthusiasm for community events and supporting a great cause. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive mindset to assist where needed. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Physical ability to assist with event setup or standing for extended periods.

Availability and Working Environment 


This is an in-person opportunity, with activities taking place at the Halifax Convention Centre. Volunteers must be available for assigned shifts during the event and have reliable transportation to and from the venue.
